Is Theoretical Knowledge important ?

I will be having a second round interview two months from now. Though I am pretty confident of my coding skills and algorithms. But I am a loser on the technical side. I have worked on a few projects in .NET framework, but I can not answer specific questions asked on it. Similar is the case in other fields like operating systems, compilers etc. I know the very beginning basics, but i can not answer even an intermediate level question based on these.
e.g.i do not know what a lexical analyzer is ? or what is the difference between a .dll and .exe ?
Will my logical ablility and coding be able to overpower this weakness? Or Is this type of knowledge needs to be given importance ?
